How We Rate Betting Sites

EditorialTim Jones, authorBy Tim JonesChecked

Every list on RSABet is put together the same way. This page explains what we check, where the information comes from and how the site pays for itself, so you can judge our recommendations for yourself.

What we check

  • Licence. Which regulator issued it, and whether a bookmaker holds a provincial licence such as one from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board.
  • Payments for South African players. Whether Ozow, Capitec Pay, instant EFT, cards and vouchers such as 1ForYou, OTT and Blu are offered, in rand, and the stated minimums.
  • Bonus terms in full. Wagering multiple, minimum odds, maximum bet while wagering, expiry and withdrawal caps — read from the operator's own terms, not from the banner.
  • Withdrawals and FICA. Stated processing times, the documents asked for during verification, and fees.
  • Support. Live chat and email availability, and how quickly a question gets a straight answer.
  • Markets and games. PSL, rugby, cricket and racing depth for bookmakers; provider range for casinos.
  • Mobile. Whether the site works in a phone browser and whether a native app exists.
  • Player protection. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion inside the account.

Where the information comes from

From the operator's own site and terms, from the regulators' published information, and from payment providers' documentation. Where a figure can change without notice — a welcome offer, a minimum deposit, a processing time — we date it and re-check it when we update the page.

How the order is decided

A site can only appear in our lists if it accepts South African players, takes rand through a payment method that is common here and publishes its bonus terms. Beyond that, the order reflects how well the operator does on the checks above, weighted towards the things that cost players money: bonus conditions, withdrawal rules and payment support.

How RSABet is funded

RSABet is free to read and carries affiliate links. If you open an operator through a link on this site and later register, we may receive a commission from that operator. This never changes the offer you get. We say this plainly because no free betting guide works without a commercial relationship with the operators it covers.

Corrections

Offers and terms change. If something on this site is out of date or wrong, see the contact page for what to send us, and we will correct or remove it.

Betting is not a way to make money

Every bookmaker builds a margin into its prices and every casino game returns less than it takes over time. Betting is entertainment with a cost, for adults aged 18 and over. If it stops being entertainment, the National Responsible Gambling Programme runs a free, confidential counselling line on 0800 006 008, around the clock.
