The 2022 Carling Black Label Cup is right around the corner, and this year's edition is a particularly momentous occasion, seeing as it's the 10th anniversary of the match. Like previous installments of the Cup, this year is set to feature an all-star showcase between South Africa's top clubs; however, for the first time ever, all 16 clubs that comprise the Premier Soccer League will take part in the festivities. The match will be played on November 12, 2022.
Calling all avid soccer fans—the Carling Black Label Cup is back for 2022! The first-round, single-elimination tournament features matchups voted on by the fans between four of the best teams in the league. It all goes down July 2, 2022, at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. This year’s cup promises to be an electrifying event.
Carling Black Label Cup Starting Lineup
After revealing their new home and away kits earlier this week for the 2022/23 season, both squads are now ready to give debuts to a bevy of new faces this weekend. Despite being a friendly match, there should be no shortage of intensity on the field. Orlando Pirates have completely revamped their roster, bringing in nine new signings while getting rid of many old and underperforming players. These new faces will obviously be looking to make an impact and win over the very large crowd that will have a say in their futures if they keep playing like they did last season.
As the countdown to the Carling Black Label Cup begins, Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Richard Ofori will be hoping for a better showing than he has made in the Soweto Derby. In two straight contests against the Kaizer Chiefs, Ofori has faced criticism for his play in leading the Pirates to two consecutive defeats.
In the Carling Black Label Cup, Mamelodi Sundowns' Ronwen Williams is determined to show that he's the finest of the fine, while Orlando Pirates are gunning for payback against their rivals, Kaizer Chiefs. Jose Riveiro, the Pirates coach, is working hard to ensure his players move beyond what is considered by many as an underwhelming victory in the MTN8 final last month. Meanwhile, Arthur Zwane, the Chiefs coach, has a long history of pressure cooker games with significant stakes. The defeat in the MTN8 has left AmaZulu captain Makhaula in a vulnerable position. Hart was at the helm that day in the semifinals. He has since opted for a full-time role working with the defense of the team.

In attack, Kermit Erasmus, the most-voted-for player, will partner with the latter.
Mamelodi Sundowns Starting XI Carling Black Label Cup
Mamelodi Sundowns is set to field Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams as a goalkeeper, along with a star-studded defense comprising internationals Thapelo Morena, Grant Kekana, Rushine De Reuck, and Khuliso Mudau. The midfield will feature Themba Zwane, Andile Jali, Gaston Sirino, and Marcelo Allende, while up front, youngster Cassius Mailula will play alongside Thabiso Kutumela.
