Springboks Face the Red Roses in RWC Final

A place in the final of the Rugby World Cup 2019 was hard-fought for South Africa. They narrowly overcame Wales 19-16 at the Yokohama Stadium in Japan. Next up for the Springboks, in a rematch of the 2007 RWC final, is a meeting with England. To win, the Boks will have to best a side coached by former mentor Eddie Jones.

The upset was caused by the England national rugby union team when they defeated New Zealand in the first semi-final 19-7. They will now look to go one step further and lift the Webb Ellis trophy. The victory against the number one side in world rugby union rankings also lifted the English into the top spot while South Africa holds the second position.

RECAP of the 2019 RWC Semi-Final

South Africa faced off with Wales in the semi-finals of a tactical battle that was not a simple game by any metric. With small margins in the game, it all came down to the fumbles that certainly made us all groan the other way. It was a tense match between the two teams, with only two tries apiece and a last-minute penalty that separated the sides. Dubbed the battle between North and South, the semi-final matches provided the testing ground to evaluate which part of the globe dominates world rugby.

England & South Africa Rise in Rugby World Rankings

If the present global rankings mean anything, the Northern Hemisphere, while at the top, is enjoying things at the moment. England knocked the Kiwis out of the mix, along with what many would consider the current most impressive rugby side in the world. South Africa's qualification to the final was enough to see them go up the charts. The Boks, affectionately known since the 1990s as such, will tell you that it's an omen for them this year, with every 12 years they lift the Webb Ellis as the most recent span of time. The last time the Boks lifted it was in 2007, when they beat England. To see how the saga unfolds this time around, check in regularly with rsa-bet.co.za.
